Kevin De Bruyne’s two-goal performance in Manchester City’s 4-2 victory over Crystal Palace showcased his top form and contributed to keeping their title challenge alive. The host team initially took the lead through Jean-Philippe Mateta, but City responded with goals from Rico Lewis, Erling Haaland, and two from De Bruyne.

Despite a late consolation goal by Ousmane Edward, City emerged victorious. De Bruyne’s impactful display came after being benched in a previous game against Aston Villa.

His return to the starting XI saw him scoring a stunning equaliser, assisting Haaland’s goal, and securing his 100th goal for City. This victory left City tied with Premier League leaders Liverpool, ahead of their upcoming match at Old Trafford.

However, City’s defensive vulnerabilities were evident in this game, with Mateta exploiting space and City struggling to contain Palace’s counter-attacks. The team’s defensive issues may provide hope for their future opponents to capitalize on.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rest key player Phil Foden, despite his hat-trick heroics in the previous match, paid off as Lewis stepped up and scored a crucial goal. Guardiola’s managerial acumen was highlighted as City overcame the early setback to secure the win.
