The winger, Luis Diaz, has reportedly asked Liverpool for a new contract that reflects his current form. Diaz, who has been attracting interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, is in superb form, having scored five goals and provided three assists in his last 10 Premier League appearances. Although Diaz’s current contract still has three years remaining, he is seeking terms that match his current performance.

Liverpool, however, is reportedly surprised by the timing of his request and the recent transfer rumors around him. Despite this surprise, Liverpool is willing to engage in discussions about an extension with Diaz’s representatives. The matter is being handled by Michael Edwards, the club’s new CEO of Football.

Edwards has returned to Anfield after a two-year hiatus and is now working under the club’s owners. At the same time, Richard Hughes will assume Edwards’s previous role, and his arrival has been cited as a crucial factor in Edwards’s return to the club. Liverpool is expected to undergo significant changes in the coming months, including the appointment of a new manager—likely to be Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim—as well as the pressing issue of Mohamed Salah’s future.

Salah will have only a year left on his contract come summer, potentially giving him more leverage in deciding his next move.
