The club’s hierarchy is undergoing significant changes as Ratcliffe and INEOS take control. United are currently trailing in the Premier League and are at risk of missing out on Champions League qualification.

Ratcliffe has already overseen the appointment of a new chief executive, and further changes to the club’s leadership structure are expected. The rapid and assertive changes have left Ten Hag feeling increasingly isolated since Ratcliffe’s substantial investment in February.

The 54-year-old manager is concerned about the changes, especially given the departures of key figures who were instrumental in his appointment in 2022. This has led to a feeling that he no longer fits into the club’s structure.

His relationship with the club’s football director has been particularly affected. Reports also suggest that there has been a noticeable change in Ten Hag’s demeanor, and the lack of public backing from Ratcliffe has been damaging to his position.

The club’s focus on Champions League qualification has further strained the situation for Ten Hag.
