Sven-Goran Eriksson, the former England boss, has been confirmed to fulfill his dream of managing a Liverpool side at Anfield next month. This opportunity comes as part of the management team for the LFC Legends, who are set to play against Ajax Legends in the annual LFC Foundation charity match on March 23. Eriksson, who recently disclosed his terminal pancreatic cancer diagnosis, expressed his long-held desire to manage his beloved Liverpool team. Liverpool FC released a statement confirming Eriksson’s participation in the game and expressing their delight at having him join the LFC Legends management team for the charity match at Anfield.
The statement also conveyed that the club and the LFC Foundation are looking forward to warmly welcoming Eriksson and his family and seeing him in the dugout on the day, making it a fantastic fundraising occasion. The Liverpool playing squad for the charity match includes notable figures such as goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek, Sander Westerveld, and Ryan Babel, who has played for both Ajax and Liverpool during his career. The proceeds from the fixture, presented by AXA, the club’s official training partner, will support the work of the LFC Foundation and its charity partners. The previous legends matches raised a total of £1.45 million, which was used to support work schemes and initiatives across the Liverpool city region and beyond.
Tickets for the charity match are available at a price of £28 for adults, £8 for juniors, and £18 for over 65s.
