Ange Postecoglou does not believe that Jurgen Klopp will walk away from top-level management despite Klopp insisting he may never coach again. Klopp faces Postecoglou’s Tottenham in his penultimate game at Anfield on Sunday and has placed his coaching future in doubt. Klopp will stand down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, with just three matches remaining of his near-nine-year tenure. Pledging to spend at least a year away from football, he has suggested that he may never take control of a team again.

But Postecoglou is sure that his counterpart will be back in an elite job in the future. The Spurs boss said: “I sure see him back and managing at the top level again. Spurs will view out-of-form Liverpool as an opportunity to gain their first points in four matches. A three-game losing streak has been compounded by London derby reverses against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Having beaten Aston Villa and climbed into fourth in March, Spurs are now losing their battle with the Villans to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Thursday’s 2-0 defeat by Chelsea leaves them fifth and seven points behind Villa, although they have a game in hand. Liverpool, meanwhile, appear to have run out of steam in their Premier League title race with Arsenal and Manchester City.
