Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has expressed the challenges of dealing with the numerous injuries affecting his squad this season. With several key players sidelined, Howe expressed the difficulty of managing a stretched squad and the impact of a growing number of setbacks.
He highlighted the struggle to rest and rotate players and maintain flexibility to protect them, especially in the face of multiple injuries within the same position. During Friday’s press conference, Eddie Howe provided updates on various players’ injuries.
He mentioned that the injuries to Livramento and Almiron were not as severe as initially feared but both players will be unavailable for a few weeks during their recovery process. He further discussed the injuries to Callum Wilson, Jamaal Lascelles, and Lewis Hall, providing insights into their individual situations and prospects for returning to play.
Jamaal Lascelles is set to be sidelined for an extended period after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, which required surgery. Howe acknowledged the significance of Lascelles’ absence and praised his contributions to the team, while also highlighting his successful operation and the initial steps in his recovery process.
Additionally, the update addressed the availability of certain players for the upcoming match against Fulham. Lewis Hall, who experienced fatigue in the previous game, is expected to be involved, while injuries continue to keep players like Tripper and Nick Pope out of the lineup for the time being.
