Wayne Rooney releases statement after withdrawing from Match of the Day due to unusual injury

Rooney has faced various injury problems throughout his playing career, from hamstring strains to a problematic metatarsal break before the 2006 World Cup. However, even after retiring from playing, he found himself unable to participate in major events, this time as a pundit, due to injury concerns.

He expressed disappointment at missing out on the BBC Match of the Day show due to a painful back injury sustained during a family holiday. Despite missing out on punditry, Rooney has been exploring the world of management after retiring.

He has had stints at Derby County, D.C. United, and Birmingham City, and expressed a desire to return to management, aiming to prove himself in various leagues. He acknowledged his youth in the managerial role but stated that he is determined to pursue this path and gain valuable experience.

While he was unable to make his punditry debut, Rooney’s setback has not deterred his long-term ambitions in both punditry and management.
