Jordan Henderson recently made a return to the Liverpool training ground in a shock comeback to the Premier League club. His status as Liverpool’s only league-winning captain of the Premier League era will remain intact unless they beat Manchester City and Arsenal to the title this season.
Reports indicate that Henderson took part in an intense one-on-one fitness session at Melwood. The midfielder was reportedly spotted by a group of Irish children who were visiting for an exhibition match with one of Liverpool’s youth teams. Henderson left Anfield under unceremonious circumstances last summer, moving to Al-Ettifaq in a £12 million transfer.
Despite his stint lasting just six months, he then moved to Ajax, featuring in nine matches for the Dutch outfit, but has been out injured since late March. He now faces a race against time to be fully fit and match sharp for the European Championships. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp expressed respect for Henderson and criticized the excessive criticism directed at him for his moves.
Klopp also acknowledged Henderson’s interesting experience in Saudi Arabia and expressed happiness that he is now at Ajax Amsterdam.
