Son Heung-min penalized for simulation and fails to convert easy chance while representing South Korea

Son Heung-min’s performance in South Korea’s first match of the Asian Cup against Bahrain was one to forget for the Tottenham star. Despite his team’s 3-1 win, Son struggled with his finishing throughout the game. South Korea opened the scoring in the 39th minute, but Bahrain equalized in the 51st minute. It was Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-In who secured the victory for South Korea with two goals. Son played a part in the third goal but overall his performance was disappointing, missing several good chances to score. In added time, Son had another opportunity to score but his shot went wide. To make matters worse, he was booked for diving, which could potentially lead to a suspension if he receives another yellow card.
