Arsenal are currently facing a problem with their lack of a striker and have expressed interest in signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus. However, Juventus is looking to offer Vlahovic a new contract later this year, making it necessary for Arsenal to act quickly if they want to secure his services. Arsenal’s goal-scoring performance has been underwhelming this season, despite their recent 5-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League. They experienced a poor run of form over the festive period, with defeats in the FA Cup to Liverpool and in the Premier League to West Ham and Fulham. They also suffered a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa in early December and a 1-1 draw against Liverpool. The team struggled to find the back of the net in several matches and wasted numerous opportunities, notably in the defeat against West Ham. Arsenal is closely monitoring Vlahovic’s contract situation and has maintained a strong interest in the 23-year-old since his time at Fiorentina. However, Vlahovic joined Juventus in January 2022 for a £66 million transfer fee after scoring 49 goals in 108 games for his previous club. He initially struggled at Juventus, scoring only 14 goals in 42 matches during his first full season. But this season, he has already scored 11 goals in Serie A, including five goals in his last three league matches. Arsenal’s current No. 9 Gabriel Jesus has only managed to score three goals in the Premier League, while backup striker Eddie Nketiah has contributed five goals. If Arsenal wants to compete with top teams like Manchester City and Liverpool, they may need to bring in a striker who can convert their chances into goals and lead the team to victory. Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has been questioned about the team’s need for more firepower, and he acknowledged the issue after their 2-0 loss to Liverpool in the FA Cup. However, he also emphasized the need to improve the current players and achieve better results with the squad they have.
