Jurgen Klopp denies Brendan Rodgers’ transfer request at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has denied Brendan Rodgers the opportunity to sign Owen Beck on loan for the remainder of the season. Beck, a young defender, made a cameo appearance in Liverpool’s win against Bournemouth, leading Celtic to end their interest in him. He was recalled from his loan at Dundee due to Liverpool’s injury crisis, with both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas sidelined. FIFA rules prevent players from featuring for more than two teams in one season, and since Beck had already made 20 appearances for Dundee, he could not play for Celtic. The Scottish side had hoped to sign him due to his impressive performances in the Scottish Premiership.

Earlier this month, both Celtic and Rangers had approaches for Beck turned down by Liverpool, as the club was considering using him in the FA Cup victory over Arsenal. However, a suspension from his time in Scotland prevented him from playing in that match. There was a possibility that Beck might not make an appearance for Liverpool and still be eligible to move to Celtic, but his cameo against Bournemouth reached his limit for teams played for in one season, ruining any transfer plans. There is a chance that he could return to Dundee on loan, as the club was upset with his recall by Liverpool. However, Klopp has downplayed the chances of Beck being loaned out again.

Klopp had positive words about Beck’s loan spell at Dundee, despite his previous difficult spells at Famalicao and Bolton. He mentioned that sending young players on loan can be challenging, as many factors need to align for a successful loan spell. Klopp believes that Beck’s time at Dundee was beneficial for his development, but with the injury crisis in the left-back position at Liverpool, it made sense to bring him back to the club.

In other news, Liverpool’s 23/24 home shirt pays homage to the club’s past and features a 1970s influence. The iconic red shirt with white cuffs and collar invokes the classic Liverpool FC style with a retro touch.
