Mauricio Pochettino’s team has suffered a tough start to the season, winning only nine of their first 23 matches and landing in 11th place in the Premier League.
Chelsea seem to lack ideas and motivation, which many attribute to the manager. However, several Blues players have also been criticized for their performances, and significant investment is needed in the summer to correct the previous spending sprees. Chelsea is aiming to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations and attempted to raise funds in the January transfer window through sales, but their public auction was unsuccessful.
AC Milan seems willing to throw a lifeline to the Stamford Bridge outfit, with Gazzetta Dello Sport reporting that the Italian giants have identified three Chelsea players as summer targets. One of the players linked to a move away from Chelsea last month is Chalobah, who had fallen out of favor under Pochettino. Fulham, Crystal Palace, and West Ham reportedly expressed interest in acquiring his services.
The Blues are keen to sell Chalobah due to his homegrown status, representing a financial profit, though striking a deal for Badiashile may be more challenging. The former Monaco star has been a prominent figure under Pochettino when fit and available, and a substantial offer for the 22-year-old would certainly test Milan’s resolve. Carney Chukwuemeka is also under consideration for Milan, and they hope that the prospect of regular opportunities under Stefano Pioli will attract him.
The 20-year-old has made five league appearances for the Blues this season, but injuries have caused him to fall down the pecking order under Pochettino. However, with their Profit and Sustainability Rules in mind, every player will have a price in the eyes of Todd Boehly.
