Liverpool may fear Chelsea’s pursuit of a £43m Mohamed Salah replacement

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao in the upcoming transfer window, but they face competition from Chelsea. The highly-rated 21-year-old has caught the attention of several top European clubs with his performances in La Liga. If Liverpool were to lose Mohamed Salah, they may turn to Williams as a top-quality replacement.

The Spanish newspaper Diario AS reported that Williams has a £43 million release clause, attracting interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa. However, Liverpool may be most concerned about Chelsea’s presence in the race, given their recent lavish spending and the need for new additions in the final third. Williams, a creative right-footed player, could be an ideal replacement for Salah, especially if Liverpool’s next manager prefers a system with two wide men tucked inside behind a center-forward.

Uncertainty also surrounds the future of Luis Diaz, who has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain. According to Athletic legend Manuel Sarabia, Williams is a special player with an incredible future and the ability to adapt to various tactics. In the summer, Williams will have the opportunity to join a top European team.
