Liverpool are reportedly close to appointing Ruben Amorim as their next manager. The Sporting Lisbon coach has attracted attention for his aggressive style of play and continuous success in Portuguese football.
This comes after the club’s initial pursuit of Xabi Alonso was disrupted when the Spaniard committed to staying at Bayer Leverkusen. Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has also been linked to the position, but he has hinted at a potential departure from the club.
He is known for his admiration of Pep Guardiola and a similar possession-heavy style of play. Liverpool, on the other hand, have been associated with Jurgen Klopp’s pressing and fast counter-attacking play, leading to speculation that Amorim could be a more suitable fit for the role.
