According to HITC, the shot-stopper is on the radar of top-flight clubs after an impressive stint between the sticks for Sunderland. It’s suggested both sides are keen to bolster their goalkeeping roster this summer, with Patterson emerging as a viable option. The report also states that scouts from both Arsenal and Liverpool have been to watch Patterson play.

The two Premier League giants had representatives in attendance for Sunderland’s clash with Bristol City earlier this month, with Patterson keeping a clean sheet during the goalless draw. And given his status as a home-grown product, it’s easy to see why Premier League outfits are sniffing around his services. Anthony Patterson has kept 12 clean sheets this season.

What is fantastic is he keeps the ball out of the net. He is a big framed goalie but he uses his frame fantastically well. “He has got a personality that is good for a goalkeeper.

He’s not up bouncing around all of the time. He’s calm, assured and relaxes the back line. He does his job.

The Gunners are set to make David Raya’s loan switch from Brentford a permanent one, with the Spaniard boasting a £27million option to buy in his contract.

This is a similar case for Liverpool’s understudy Caoimhin Kelleher, with talk the Irishman could depart Anfield this summer. Due to Alisson Becker’s injury, the 25-year-old has started eight Premier League games in a row, but it’s likely Kelleher will return to the bench when the Brazil international returns. A regular starting spot is something Kelleher is said to be after, meaning his most likely option will be to leave the Merseyside outfit when the window opens for business.
