This article discusses the situation of Nahuel Guzman, a footballer who is being investigated for allegedly pointing a laser pen at an opposing player during a match. Guzman, who plays for Liga MX side Tigres, was caught on camera shining the laser towards the field during the match against cross-town rivals Monterrey. Although Guzman was not involved in the game due to an injury, he has been accused of directing the laser at the opposition shot-stopper Esteban Andrada. Monterrey officials quickly filed a complaint to Liga MX’s disciplinary committee, triggering an investigation.
A video on social media showed the green laser being pointed from a suite, and fans identified the person holding the laser as Guzman. In response, Guzman issued a public apology to Esteban for the incident during the match. Despite the apology, Guzman may still face disciplinary action as the investigation continues, and his previous on and off-pitch antics have been brought into question. The incident did not help Guzman’s team, as Tigres ended the match in a 3-3 draw against their rivals.
Guzman now awaits a decision from the Liga MX disciplinary committee, which could result in a significant punishment if his case is escalated.
