The appointment of Slot as the new Feyenoord manager has been finalized. He will report to Hughes, while the duo will both report to Edwards.
Slot had been eager for Feyenoord to reach an agreement with Liverpool for his move. The Reds expressed interest in the 44-year-old after Feyenoord’s victory in the Dutch Cup final against Nijmegan.
Initially rejecting a £7.7m offer, Feyenoord later accepted a £9.4m proposal. Slot will complete the remainder of the Eredivisie season before taking over from Klopp in the summer.
Despite winning the Eredivisie last season after 20 years, Feyenoord is unlikely to retain their title this term, trailing nine points behind PSV with three matches left. Klopp has given his approval for Slot’s appointment, citing his enthusiasm and willingness to secure the deal.
He expressed admiration for Slot’s coaching style, character, and heard positive feedback about him. Klopp looks forward to Slot’s potential contribution to the club.
