A man was fatally stabbed outside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of their Premier League match against Nottingham Forest. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, with police and paramedics responding to the scene.
Despite efforts to administer CPR, the victim succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made, and the police are working to notify the victim’s next of kin.
Parts of Worcester Avenue and Northumberland Park Road will remain cordoned off for the police investigation during the game. Tottenham Hotspur released a statement regarding the incident, stating that the Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest will proceed as scheduled.
They requested supporters to be patient and allow extra travel time and extended condolences to the victim’s family and those affected by the tragic event. Chief Inspector Stephen Johnston-Keay expressed condolences for the victim and assured that the police are conducting a thorough investigation to identify and arrest those responsible.
He thanked the local community for their patience and understanding during this critical period. The match between Spurs and Forest was scheduled for an unusual Sunday 6pm slot due to a rescheduling from the original Monday date.
The change was prompted by safety concerns linked to planned tube and rail strikes, which were eventually cancelled. However, industrial action by train operators is still expected to impact travel.
Fans were apologized to for the short notice of the change in schedule.
