Erik ten Hag comments on Bruno Fernandes’ heated exchange with Man Utd teammate

Fernandes, 29, scored two goals for United on Saturday, helping the team secure a 2-2 draw after a lackluster performance. Before United fell behind to Dominic Solanke’s 16th-minute goal, Fernandes was seen arguing with his goalkeeper over goal kicks. Despite encouragement to calm down, Fernandes continued the dispute, even gesturing defiantly at his manager.

In a post-match interview, United boss Ten Hag praised Fernandes’ energy and leadership as the team captain, while expressing disappointment in the team’s dropped points in recent games. He acknowledged the struggle in the first half but highlighted the team’s fighting spirit in the second half. Bournemouth was awarded a penalty in injury time, but VAR overturned the decision, ruling it occurred outside the box.

Ten Hag disagreed with the penalty decision and expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s recent record of conceding debatable penalties. Finally, Manchester United now shift their focus to the FA Cup, where they will face Coventry in a semi-final showdown at Wembley next Sunday.
