Manchester United boss Jim Ratcliffe is just £13m from naming fifth appointment after making a lowball offer.
Manchester United chief Jim Ratcliffe is expected to make sweeping changes to the club’s hierarchy over the coming months. Reports indicate that he has been urged to increase his offer for Dan Ashworth by £13 million after initially making a lowball offer. The club’s minority shareholder, Omar Berrada, is set to join as CEO, with Jason Wilcox coming in as the new technical director.
Additionally, INEOS duo Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc have also been appointed to roles within the club’s football operations team. United’s pursuit of former FA technical director Ashworth has been met with challenges, as Newcastle has placed him on an 18-month gardening leave. Ratcliffe has reportedly engaged in talks with Newcastle director Amanda Staveley to expedite discussions.
The latest offer made by Ratcliffe reportedly covers the fee that Newcastle paid to Brighton for Ashworth in 2022, but Newcastle is seeking a higher sum, including add-ons.
