Man Utd progressing to the FA Cup final on Sunday has done little to ease the pressure on Erik ten Hag ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United. Despite the Red Devils booking a Wembley final with rivals Man City, they only did so after blowing a 3-0 lead against Coventry, eventually scraping through on penalties after the Championship side were denied an extra-time winner by VAR.

They could be down to eighth in the table by the time they face the Blades, with their European hopes hanging by a thread. However, tonight’s fixture is not on TV and here Express Sport explains why…

Why was the game moved? The FA Cup remains Ten Hag’s last hope of silverware from an inconsistent season, and it’s his team’s run in this competition which led to the re-arrangement.

Their 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest in the fifth round, courtesy of Casemiro’s late goal, was the initial reason for the Sheffield United clash being postponed. The game between the two sides was originally scheduled for the much-debated Saturday 3pm blackout. Under current regulations, unless a fixture is moved from that time-slot specifically for television coverage, it cannot be shown live.

Therefore, as Wednesday’s game was moved purely because of a fixture clash, it is still subject to the blackout.
