Manchester United has confirmed the departure of interim chief executive Patrick Stewart and chief financial officer Cliff Baty. The club owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Joel Glazer, have spoken about the new changes to the hierarchy as part of INEOS’ restructuring.
A club statement on Tuesday night announced that Stewart and Baty had mutually agreed to depart from Old Trafford at the end of the season. Jean-Claude Blanc, chief executive of INEOS Sport, will temporarily take over from Stewart until Omar Berrada starts his post on July 13. Former INEOS chief financial officer Roger Bell will replace Baty. Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed gratitude to Stewart and Baty for their support and welcomed their decision to move on as the club establishes a new management team.
Joel Glazer thanked them for their dedicated service to Manchester United. Stewart has been with United since 2006 and was appointed as interim CEO after the departure of Richard Arnold at the beginning of the year. Baty became the club’s CFO in March 2016 and has been on the board of directors since December 2017. The pair join Arnold and football director John Murtough among the higher-ups leaving United as part of Ratcliffe’s changes.
