Victor Osimhen offers support to AFCON opponent following unfortunate own-goal in Nigeria’s favor

Victor Osimhen showed great sportsmanship by consoling Opa Sangante after his comical own goal in Nigeria’s match against Guinea-Bissau at the Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria, aiming to secure a spot in the knockout stages as group winners, were gifted the lead when Sangante accidentally scored an own goal. Osimhen initially celebrated with his teammates but then went over to Sangante and put an arm around him to lift his spirits. Osimhen, who has been in excellent form for Nigeria, has scored 20 goals in 28 international appearances and has been a key player in their AFCON campaign. However, his own goal in the match was ruled out for offside, and it remains to be seen if his performances for Nigeria will attract interest from top clubs. Osimhen has recently signed a contract extension with Napoli and has expressed his focus on his current career plans.
