John Murtough’s ‘transfer talks’ at Man Utd suggest a double deal that will bring joy to Erik ten Hag

Ratcliffe’s charm offensive after Man Utd investment

John Murtough’s transfer talks in Saudi Arabia at the end of last year now make sense, as Al-Nassr reportedly target a double Manchester United swoop as early as this month. Cristiano Ronaldo could be set to reunite with two of his former team-mates in the Middle East in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

The report claims they could move for Wan-Bissaka sooner, having seen a £20m bid for Tottenham Hotspur right-back Emerson Royal rejected last week. United reportedly held contract talks with Wan-Bissaka’s camp earlier this month after triggering a 12-month extension until 2025. However, those didn’t go positively, and Crystal Palace and West Ham United are among his suitors ahead of the summer transfer window.

Casemiro is the top earner at Old Trafford, pocketing around £18.2m per year. Wan-Bissaka earns in the region of £4.7m annually. In a summer when United are expected to offload several high-earning players – including Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho – cashing in on Casemiro and Wan-Bissaka would boost finances further.
