Man Utd to add Mason Greenwood ‘conditions’ in Barcelona agreement after ‘private conversation’ revealed

According to the Sun, Barcelona is reportedly seen as a “dream move” for Greenwood, who has been on loan at Getafe in La Liga for the past six months. The deal is expected to include add-ons based on the number of games Greenwood plays for Barcelona and possibly the England national team. While Valencia and Real Sociedad are also interested, Barcelona is considered the frontrunner to sign him. Manchester United is still discussing Greenwood’s future internally, but a decision is not expected until later in the spring. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a new minority shareholder, has internally discussed Greenwood, but concrete decisions won’t be made until at least March, April, or May. By then, the board will have reshuffled their transfer policy team, providing more clarity on Greenwood’s next steps.

Erik ten Hag, the coach of Getafe, has expressed a desire to keep Greenwood at the club, but the final decision is not up to him. Greenwood has performed well for Getafe, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 16 matches. Several other Spanish clubs, including Getafe, Valencia, and Real Sociedad, are also monitoring him.

Manchester United has rejected Getafe’s offer to pay £40 million to keep Greenwood permanently, opting to keep him on loan while Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS consider his future. The club may be trying to increase Greenwood’s transfer value before the summer, but they are also leaving the door open for him to return to Old Trafford next season. Barcelona, on the other hand, is preparing a lucrative bid for the young English international.
