Man Utd’s Rashford could face hefty fine as forward clashes with manager Ten Hag

Marcus Rashford is reportedly facing a significant £650,000 fine from Manchester United for allegedly partying on the night before calling in sick to training. He was absent from Friday’s training session and the subsequent FA Cup trip to Newport, claiming illness. The fine, equivalent to two weeks’ wages, is the largest financial penalty a club can impose on a player under PFA rules.

Rashford was reported to have been seen partying in Belfast on Thursday, contradicting his report of sickness the next day. He had traveled to meet a former academy teammate who was moving to a new club. United initially claimed the photographs were from Wednesday night, but it was later reported that Rashford had been at the venue on both Wednesday and Thursday.

The manager, Erik ten Hag, referred to Rashford’s absence as “an internal matter” during a pre-match interview. This is not the first time Rashford has been reprimanded for attending a nightclub, as he previously faced consequences for partying after a defeat against Manchester City. Despite these incidents, Ten Hag expressed confidence in Rashford’s commitment and motivation.

Rashford has not been able to replicate the success of his previous season, where he scored 30 goals.
