Jaidon Anthony of Leeds receives harsh yellow card for paying tribute to his mother who passed away days ago

Jaidon Anthony scored the first goal for Leeds against Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup fourth round. The 24-year-old winger celebrated his goal by revealing an undershirt paying tribute to his late mother. However, he was booked by the referee for doing so.

Anthony, who was given a rare start by Leeds boss Daniel Farke, seized the opportunity and scored a sensational goal by dribbling past three Plymouth players before curling into the far corner. His undershirt message read: “Rest in perfect peace mum,” as a tribute to his late mother, Donna, who had passed away the previous week. Dominic Solanke, Anthony’s former teammate at Bournemouth, also paid tribute to Anthony’s mother by revealing an undershirt with “R.I.P.

Donna” after scoring a goal, but he also received a yellow card for his celebration. Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola commented on the issue, acknowledging the difficulty of drawing the line on such matters. Solanke had been a regular fixture in Bournemouth’s 2021/22 Championship promotion season, scoring eight goals.

However, with the arrival of new boss Iraola, he was sent on a season-long loan to Leeds.
