New Tottenham Signing Bergvall Set to Follow in the Footsteps of £132m Duo

Djurgardens’ outgoing midfield prodigy had the choice to leave the club due to his immense talent, despite not being a household name as he had spent his entire career in Sweden. The teenager, Bergvall, has been on the radar of many top European clubs since his time at Swedish second-tier outfit IF Brommapojkarna, where he even paid visits to clubs like Bayern Munich and Juventus.

He was reportedly on trial at Manchester United when he was 14 and later became the subject of a tug-of-war between Spurs and Barca. Djurgardens director of football, Bosse Andersson, expressed surprise at the level of media interest and speculation in Bergvall’s future.

It’s likely that Bergvall will move to a club abroad soon, as he has been with Djurgardens since December 2022 and will remain with the Allsvenskan side until the summer before moving on. Bergvall is part of a line of top-level talents from IF Brommapojkarna’s youth system, following in the footsteps of players like Viktor Gyokeres and Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski reportedly showed Bergvall around Tottenham’s training facilities, acting as an ‘ambassador’ for the club. Bergvall made his debut in the Swedish top flight at the age of 16 and has received praise for his abilities from Djurgardens boss Thomas Lagerlof.

Lagerlof expressed confidence in Bergvall’s skills and readiness for the top level, acknowledging his all-round ability, including his handling of the physical game and his ability to make decisive passes.
