Xavi anuncia su salida del Barcelona inmediatamente después de ceder cinco goles en casa ante el Villarreal

Xavi has announced that he will leave his position as head coach of Barcelona at the end of the season. Pressure has been mounting on the club icon to improve results, despite guiding the club to a shock league title last term. The Spaniard made the announcement after his team suffered a 5-3 defeat by Villarreal in La Liga, stating that his decision was in the best interests of the club. Xavi expressed that the club needs a change of dynamic and emphasized his commitment to giving his best in the remaining four months of the season.

Moreover, Xavi believes that no Barcelona manager will ever have a tenure as long as Sir Alex Ferguson’s 26 years at Manchester United, citing the scrutiny and disrespect experienced by Barca coaches. He insists that his decision to step down is irreversible and will not depend on the club’s performance in La Liga or the Champions League. Intriguingly, he had not informed the club’s squad before making his intentions public. Xavi’s side currently sits third in the table, 10 points behind Real Madrid and eight behind surprise title challengers Girona.

Despite guiding the club to the top of La Liga last season, they were eventually eliminated from the Champions League group stages and the Europa League at the first hurdle. The defeat against Villarreal furthered the pressure, with poor defending allowing the opposition to come from behind and secure a last-minute victory. Xavi’s decision to step down as Barcelona’s head coach reflects his commitment to the best interests of the club and a desire for a change in dynamic to improve the team’s performance.
