Lille striker David has been linked with a move to the Premier League for a while. Tottenham and Arsenal have both shown interest in the past, but Manchester United could make a move in the summer as David’s contract with the French club is set to expire in a year. Lille might be tempted to sell him to avoid losing him for free 12 months later.
David, who is 24, has played across a front three during his time at Lille and has the potential to improve, as evidenced by his 13 goals this season. Another potential target for Manchester United is Serhou Guirassy, who has scored 19 goals in 16 appearances for Stuttgart this season. Despite having a modest £13m release clause in his contract, no move materialized for him in the last transfer window.
Given his consistent goal-scoring record in the Bundesliga, a £13m fee for Guirassy could be an attractive proposition for the club. Iranian forward Mehdi Taremi is available on a free transfer this summer. He could provide support for Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United without insisting on regular game time.
Another option for United is Gabriel Barbosa, who has had a successful spell at Flamengo in Brazil, scoring 142 goals in 257 appearances. His contract with the club is set to expire in December, and United could potentially secure a cut-price agreement in the summer. In addition, Everton’s Calvert Lewin could be a target for Manchester United, as he will have only a year remaining on his contract in the summer.
The financial situation at Everton may give United an advantage in any potential negotiations.
