Nottingham Forest humiliates Chelsea as Todd Boehly suffers ultimate embarrassment in football.

Todd Boehly, overseeing a period of frivolous transfer spending at Chelsea, has left the club’s transfer track record since the takeover of Boehly and Clearlake Capital with plenty to be desired. Over the first 12 months of the new ownership regime, the Blues spent extensively, but many of the recruits are failing to deliver on the pitch.

Fellow trigger-happy transfer fanatics Nottingham Forest have managed to outdo the Londoners in this aspect. Both Forest and Chelsea have been prominent in transfer gossip columns since the beginning of the 2022/23 season.

Chelsea’s substantial recruitment includes high-profile midfielders such as Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo, but only a fraction of their arrivals have made a successful start at Stamford Bridge. On the other hand, Forest has enjoyed some success despite their own numerous fruitless moves.

Of Chelsea’s arrivals, only a few have made significant goal contributions, with players like Morgan Gibbs-White, Taiwo Awoniyi, Chris Wood, and Anthony Elanga leading the way. In contrast, the star-studded list of Chelsea’s arrivals has managed significantly fewer goal contributions.

Cole Palmer and Raheem Sterling have been standout performers, with others falling well short of expectations. Mykhaylo Mudryk, despite completing a high-value switch from Shakhtar Donetsk, has managed only a small number of goal contributions in the 13 months since his arrival.

Following the club’s takeover, Chelsea recruited Paul Winstanley from Brighton and Laurence Stewart from Monaco to form their transfer department, and the duo will be under pressure to recruit more effectively in the coming transfer windows.
