Arsenal leading the race to sign £156m duo as Chelsea also shows interest

Mikel Arteta is potentially looking at a significant double transfer boost during the upcoming summer. According to reports, Arsenal is the frontrunner to acquire two players from Sporting CP, who have attracted interest from several European clubs. Chelsea has also been linked with a double swoop and has reportedly initiated contact over Diomande. Victor Gyokeres, a player from Sporting CP, has been particularly notable, scoring 36 times this season.

His release clause is £87 million, and he is under contract with the club until 2028, indicating that Sporting is not at risk of losing him for free in the near future. Diomande, an Ivorian international, joined the club in January 2022 and is tied to Sporting until 2027. He made an impression in matches against Arsenal last season during the Europa League, and his potential acquisition by Arsenal may require the club to make sales to comply with Premier League restrictions. Sporting CP is currently engaged in a title race, leading their rivals Benfica by one point.

However, the club faces potential upheaval in the summer, with the futures of their key players and their manager, Ruben Amorim, uncertain. Amorim is reportedly a favorite to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, and this possible managerial change is likely to exacerbate the prospect of a player exodus from the club.
