Erik ten Hag gets update from INEOS on potential dismissal after Liverpool draw

Erik ten Hag’s Future at Manchester United Uncertain

Reports suggest that INEOS is still deliberating over relieving Erik ten Hag of his duties as manager of Manchester United. The Dutchman’s position appears to be in jeopardy following a lackluster performance in the recent draw against Liverpool.

During the match, United struggled to compete, failing to register a single shot in the first half and showcasing minimal expected goals. Critics have highlighted Ten Hag’s inability to establish a clear playing style or demonstrate progress since his appointment two years ago.

This has fueled speculation that he may be replaced in the summer. Despite links to potential replacements such as Julian Nagelsmann and Gareth Southgate, it has been reported that United’s decision-makers have not engaged with any candidates at this stage.

INEOS allegedly remains open to retaining Ten Hag after positive discussions, with his existing contract extending until the summer of 2025. The club also has the option to prolong his tenure for an additional year.

It is uncertain whether INEOS will opt for a new manager for the upcoming season or give Ten Hag another chance to improve the team’s performance. The manager himself has expressed commitment to his role, stating that he is focused on the project and believes in the team’s progression.
