Ben White has been managing a knee injury since early November. The 26-year-old Arsenal defender has impressed staff at London Colney by choosing to play through the pain, pushing back a more serious examination until after the Premier League season.
Despite the injury, White has featured in nearly every league match this season and has adapted to a right-back role while also offering versatility across the back line and in defensive midfield, making him a valuable asset to manager Mikel Arteta. Reportedly determined to continue playing until the summer, White’s ability to withstand the knee issue has surprised the coaching staff.
The injury is believed to have originated in a match against Newcastle United five months ago and he has been “managing” it since then. His decision to forgo England call-ups in order to focus on Arsenal’s title run-in and the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich has kept him fresher for the crucial stages of the season.
Arsenal, currently in contention for their first league title in 20 years, are also facing a demanding fixture list. Despite having a fully-fit squad to choose from, with the exception of Bukayo Saka, Arteta emphasized the difficulty of every game in the league and the high level of competition.
With a tough opponent in Brighton up next, the team is aiming to prepare well and secure a victory.
