Frank Lampard gets surprise job opportunity as iconic Chelsea figure

Frank Lampard, the former Chelsea boss, is being considered for the role of head coach for the Canada national team. Since leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, Lampard has been without a job, and this opportunity could mark his return to management.

According to reports, the Canadian football federation has shortlisted Lampard as a potential candidate for the coaching position, with the intention of having him lead the team at the 2026 World Cup. Lampard was recently seen observing England’s training sessions under Gareth Southgate, indicating a potential interest in the role.

Despite his previous coaching stints in England with Derby and Everton, Lampard has not coached outside of the country, except for his playing spell in MLS with New York City. He has expressed his openness to returning to coaching but has also been enjoying his time away from football with his family.

Lampard emphasized his enjoyment of spending time with his family, stating that while he is keen to return to coaching, he is relishing the present moment. He acknowledged the intensity of the job and the challenges it presents, expressing his interest in working with players and teams to see what opportunities arise.

However, Lampard might approach the Canada national team opportunity cautiously, given the concerns raised by the previous coach regarding the resources and support needed to achieve success at the international level.
