Ruben Amorim, Jurgen Klopp’s successor, selects Liverpool’s first three transfers

The Reds are reportedly close to finalizing a deal to appoint a Portuguese head coach as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement. Ruben Amorim, who has impressed elite clubs with his work at Sporting over the last four years, is favored over other candidates. Liverpool has turned to Amorim after learning that Xabi Alonso intends to stay at Bayer Leverkusen. Once a deal for Amorim is finalized, attention will turn to a potentially busy summer at Anfield.

According to Portuguese publication Jornal Noticias, Amorim has given Liverpool three names ahead of the transfer window. He reportedly wants Sporting’s defensive duo, 22-year-old Goncalo Inacio and 20-year-old Eduardo Quaresma, to join him at Liverpool. In addition, he has asked Liverpool to target midfielder Martin Hjulmand, despite the club’s recent midfield overhaul. These players are part of a successful Sporting team that has won 23 of their 27 top-flight matches this season.

Amorim prefers a 3-4-3 formation, unlike Klopp’s 4-3-3, which may require a change in defensive personnel for Liverpool. This includes potential new signings as Liverpool has struggled with center-back injuries over the last few seasons. Overall, if Amorim moves to Anfield, it could mark a shift in tactics and signings within the club.
