Liverpool’s failed player declines team bus and leaves for home in a fit of rage.

Werder Bremen midfielder Naby Keita made headlines after choosing to leave the team bus and head home upon discovering that he wasn’t in the starting XI for their match against Bayer Leverkusen. This incident occurred as Keita, who has been struggling with fitness issues, had only made five appearances for Bremen this season. Clemens Fritz, the club’s sporting director, confirmed the incident and stated that they would discuss the consequences with Keita and his agent. In Keita’s absence, Bremen suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Leverkusen, marking the end of Bayern Munich’s dominance.

Keita’s season with Bremen has been disappointing, adding to a series of letdowns since his move from RB Leipzig to Liverpool in 2018. Despite joining Liverpool in a major deal, Keita failed to live up to expectations and was subsequently picked up by Werder Bremen on a free transfer. Reports earlier in the season suggested that Keita had failed to make a favorable impression at his new club due to issues with conduct and timekeeping. These reports included allegations of lateness for training and refusal to participate in promotional events.

Werder Bremen’s performance this season has placed them in 12th place in the Bundesliga table.
