Liverpool news: Michael Edwards’ €215m triple deal in sight

Liverpool’s CEO of Football, Michael Edwards, has been busy putting together a recruitment plan following the upcoming departure of manager Jurgen Klopp. Reports suggest that Liverpool scouts were sent to Portugal to observe three potential transfer targets: striker Viktor Gyokeres, defender Goncalo Inacio, and midfielder Morten Hjulmand. Sporting boss Ruben Amorim is a likely candidate to take over from Klopp, and the Liverpool scouts were in attendance at Sporting’s recent match against Vitoria de Guimaraes. Gyokeres has been in impressive form for Sporting, with 34 goal contributions in 29 league games since joining last summer.

Inacio is bound by a significant release clause in his contract, and acquiring all three players could potentially cost Liverpool £190m. Liverpool’s interest in Amorim is strong, with Xabi Alonso choosing to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, and other potential candidates such as Roberto De Zerbi and Julian Nagelsmann considered lower priorities. Liverpool may have to free up space on their wage bill with the potential exits of Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip in order to afford these acquisitions. Overall, the club appears to be planning for a significant reshaping of their team in the near future.
