With Jurgen Klopp leaving the Reds at the end of the season, the summer transfer window will be overseen by new manager Arne Slot. The Reds are expected to shake up their ranks and rejig their backline. Outgoings are anticipated ahead of next season, with a number of players linked with moves elsewhere, and a replacement centre-back is being prioritized due to the departure of Joel Matip.

According to Anfield Watch, Gomez has indicated that he is ‘open to a new challenge’ and keen for any bids for his services to be entertained by the Reds. He is not expected to push for a move, but he has made it clear that he’s ready for a change if a club meets his price tag. Gomez is not expected to be short of suitors due to his homegrown status and versatility.

He can be deployed anywhere across the backline and has also played as a No. 6 in midfield. However, any sale of Gomez would raise funds for a replacement, which will be an important task for the newfound team of Slot, Michael Edwards, and Richard Hughes.
