The Gunners are reportedly prepared to offer players to Sporting Lisbon in exchange for Viktor Gyokeres, who has been in outstanding form since moving from the English Championship to Portugal’s Primeira Liga. Gyokeres has scored an impressive 36 goals across all competitions, including 22 in the Primeira Liga, under the guidance of coach Ruben Amorim.
The lack of a prolific No. 9 has been costly for Arsenal, and they are now looking to strengthen their forward line.
Arsenal scouts have been impressed with Gyokeres’ performances this season, believing that he could make the step up to a top six Premier League side. However, they face competition from other clubs, with Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli attacker Victor Osimhen also linked with Arsenal.
In response to the demand for Gyokeres, Arsenal plan to offer players in exchange for the Swedish international, potentially countering the interest from other clubs. This could provide an opportunity for some of Arsenal’s fringe players to join one of Portugal’s biggest clubs.
Sporting Lisbon currently lead the Portuguese top-flight by four points and have a game in hand over second-placed Benfica. However, they may face challenges in retaining their key personnel, with Liverpool strongly linked with coach Ruben Amorim and Premier League clubs expressing interest in Gyokeres.
Gyokeres’ agent has acknowledged the interest from Premier League and Italian clubs, but emphasized that the player’s focus is on winning the Portuguese league and cup for Sporting Lisbon, as he is determined to give the supporters these titles.
