Sporting Lisbon faces heightened concerns as talks intensify over Ruben Amorim’s potential move to Liverpool.

Ruben Amorim is reportedly the frontrunner for the position of Liverpool boss and Sporting Lisbon is getting ready for a potential player exodus if Amorim makes the move. The 39-year-old coach has emerged as the favorite to take over from Jurgen Klopp after Xabi Alonso confirmed his affiliation with Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting’s recent 1-0 victory against Famalicao has positioned them seven points ahead in the Portuguese league with five games left. The team is also preparing to compete in the Portugal Cup final, potentially achieving a historic double triumph this season.

However, the success has led to increased interest in three key players, Viktor Gyokeres, Ousmane Diomande, and Goncalo Inacio, all of whom are attracting attention from Premier League clubs. Arsenal is eyeing Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, while Newcastle has shown interest in Ivory Coast international Ousmane Diomande. Additionally, Portuguese international Goncalo Inacio remains a target for Liverpool. Sporting has inserted buy-out clauses into their contracts, but it is expected that suitors will attempt lower initial bids if Amorim leaves.

Despite the speculation, Amorim has downplayed rumors of his potential move to Liverpool. He emphasized that Sporting’s priority is winning the Portuguese title. However, the ongoing speculation raises uncertainties about the future of the key players and the team’s dynamics, as Amorim’s potential departure may lead to a significant restructuring at Sporting Lisbon.
