According to The Telegraph, Newcastle believe the Belgium international has the attributes and profile needed to improve the squad at St James’ Park. Onana has excelled for Everton and has made 58 appearances for the club. His £50 million price tag is proving to be a problem for Newcastle, but with Everton under pressure to sell players due to their Financial Fair Play issues, Newcastle will be hoping to agree a deal with their Premier League rivals.

The club has already rejected a bid from Bayern Munich for Trippier, while Atletico Madrid have enquired about Wilson.
