Newcastle could beat Chelsea and Tottenham to last-minute Premier League transfer

Newcastle could reportedly intervene in the transfer of Antonio Nusa before the Premier League transfer window closes. The Bees had agreed to a £25m deal with Club Brugge, which would have seen Nusa return to the Belgian club on loan for the rest of the season. However, Newcastle is reportedly considering hijacking the deal if Brentford fails to acquire Nusa.

Brentford is still pursuing the deal and has requested further medical information from Brugge and the Norwegian FA. However, should Brentford back out, Newcastle is prepared to swoop in and take advantage of Nusa’s availability. The Magpies have been monitoring the 18-year-old’s situation and are reportedly considering matching the terms offered by Brentford to Brugge.

However, Newcastle is mindful of adhering to the Premier League’s financial regulations and is considering selling a key player to avoid exceeding the permitted £105m loss over a three-year period. This could potentially impact moves for other players, such as Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher. Regarding any potential further business this month, Newcastle’s manager indicated that incoming signings are unlikely, though outgoing transfers are a possibility.
