Manchester United: Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the “purge” in the recruitment department with a major restructuring

The FA Cup buzz was felt as Newport fell short against Man Utd. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is set to make “ruthless” changes at Manchester United by revamping the club’s recruitment department. The INEOS era will begin once Ratcliffe’s £1.3 billion investment is ratified by the Premier League, expected as early as the first week of February. Ratcliffe, aged 71, will inherit a 29% stake in United and full control of football operations, with the Glazers handing over control of Old Trafford.

INEOS has made a strong statement by appointing Omar Berrada as the club’s new chief executive, recruiting him from rivals Manchester City. The Telegraph reports that the appointment of a new director of football is also on the horizon, with plans to fill the position in the coming weeks. A purge of United’s recruitment team is expected, with the aim of creating a coherent system under the new leadership. Ratcliffe’s team is ready to make bold decisions to steer the club in the right direction.

The new director of football will play a pivotal role in deciding Erik ten Hag’s future and reshaping the recruitment team. Several names from both local and overseas clubs have been linked to the director of football position. Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc will take the two seats on United’s football board for INEOS, and any new appointments are likely to report to them and Ratcliffe. The former’s audit of the club is expected to begin next month, though he has already spent significant time around Carrington and Old Trafford.
