Gareth Southgate “para hablar con el Man Utd” mientras el jefe de Inglaterra está preocupado por Marcus Rashford

England manager Gareth Southgate will consult with Manchester United before considering Marcus Rashford for his next Three Lions squad, according to reports. The Red Devils forward returned to Carrington earlier this week to face the music after going out in Belfast the night before calling in sick for training. Rashford was left out of the matchday squad against Newport County on Sunday as Erik ten Hag chose to tackle the FA Cup tie without him. United won the game 4-2 and the 26-year-old is since believed to have apologised for his conduct and accepted a fine of two weeks’ wages.

However, a string of incidents involving Rashford this season are understood to be causing concern at Old Trafford. The England ace was spotted out partying shortly after a 3-0 Manchester derby defeat that left United fans gutted. He was also disciplined by Ten Hag for turning up late to a team meeting last season, which saw him dropped to the bench for a Premier League game against Wolves. According to The Daily Star, Southgate plans to speak with senior figures at United to get an insight into Rashford’s state of mind before selecting his next England squad.

The Three Lions face tough friendlies against Brazil and Belgium in March. The matches come at a crucial time as it will be England’s final reunion on home turf before jetting off for Euro 2024. Rashford is already competing with a host of ultra-talented stars for minutes out wide including Bukayo Saka, Phil Foden, and Raheem Sterling. The United academy product has been in disappointing form this season, with four goals in 20 Premier League appearances.

The Red Devils are struggling as a collective as Ten Hag’s side sit eighth in the table, 11 points off the top four. Rashford has scored 17 goals in 59 appearances for England, and he was one of the nation’s bright sparks when the Three Lions made it to the World Cup quarter-finals in 2022. After Rashford and his agent met with United sporting director John Murtough on Monday, the club said: “Marcus has taken responsibility for his actions.”
