Premier League legend baffled as Chelsea told to make three signings while Todd Boehly criticized

In an article containing affiliate links, it has been suggested by Premier League legend Alan Shearer that Chelsea is in need of three new players. Shearer expressed confusion over how a club can spend such a substantial amount of money and still require reinforcements. Although Chelsea has had a difficult time on the pitch since owner Todd Boehly took over, they have experienced an improvement in fortunes recently.

Boehly acquired Chelsea from Roman Abramovich in May 2022 following the Russian oligarch’s decision to sell the club due to the attack on Ukraine by his country. Since then, Boehly has spent over £1 billion on new signings. This includes the purchases of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £107 million, Moises Caicedo from Brighton for a fee that could rise to £115 million, and other notable players such as Cole Palmer, Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, and Robert Sanchez. However, despite these investments, Shearer believes Chelsea still requires a goalkeeper, a center-back, and a center-forward.

Previous Chelsea managers Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter were both sacked last season, with Mauricio Pochettino taking charge in the summer after a temporary period under Frank Lampard. Initially, Pochettino struggled as Chelsea dropped to 12th place in the Premier League table. Nevertheless, they have climbed up to ninth in recent weeks following four wins in their last five matches.

Pochettino has indicated that Chelsea may enter the transfer market once again to bolster their squad. They aim to secure a place in European competition by the end of the season. Pochettino stated that the club is constantly assessing their options and discussing potential signings with the owners and sporting directors. However, he expressed contentment with the current squad and emphasized that they are working normally.

Therefore, Chelsea will continue to evaluate their options and make any necessary signings if suitable opportunities arise. The club remains optimistic about their prospects for the rest of the season.
