Wycombe Wanderers footballer, 17, passes away after becoming unwell during match

Wycombe Wanderers are mourning the tragic passing of 17-year-old footballer Adam Ankers. Adam fell ill while playing a match for the club and later passed away in the hospital. His father, Alastair, shared the heartbreaking news on social media, expressing the devastating loss and emphasizing Adam’s love for the sport.

Matt Bloomfield, Wycombe’s first-team manager, expressed shock and sadness, stating that Adam has been in their thoughts and offering deepest condolences to his friends, teammates, and family. Mark Gaitskell from the Wycombe Wanderers Foundation also expressed deep sorrow over the loss and mentioned plans to pay tribute to Adam in the future home game against Oxford United on February 17. The club is devastated by the loss of Adam, a talented and much-loved young man, and is collecting thoughts on how to best honor him and create a legacy in his name.
