Manchester City and Chelsea to lose out on £60m after letting star leave for free

Michael Olise is reportedly set to leave Crystal Palace this summer, with both Manchester City and Chelsea potentially regretting their failed attempts to secure him. Despite experiencing a season marred by injuries, Olise has showcased his potential at Crystal Palace, scoring six goals in 12 Premier League appearances in the 2023/24 season. Winger Jadon Sancho is also anticipated to depart following the conclusion of his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund, accentuating the misjudgment of their Premier League rivals.

Having spent seven years at Chelsea’s youth system before being released at the age of 14, Olise joined Manchester City briefly before ultimately moving to Reading, where he revitalized his professional career. His return to Crystal Palace after being deemed surplus to requirements at both City and Chelsea demonstrates his resilience and determination. Former manager Roy Hodgson emphasized the significance of retaining Olise, expressing his concerns about the potential departure and stressing the value of nurturing talents like Olise to enhance the team’s performance.

Despite the impending departure, Olise is expected to feature in Crystal Palace’s upcoming game against Liverpool.
