Chelsea and Arsenal Could Both Benefit as Liverpool Near Deal for Arne Slot

Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim had previously been the favorite to take over after the Reds were rejected by Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso. However, Amorim’s future is still likely to be the subject of intense speculation as he has been linked with other top-level European clubs.

At 39 years old, Amorim is on the verge of guiding his current club to the Primeira Liga title, with Sporting seven points clear of Benfica with just four games remaining. Tuchel, who guided the club to FA Cup and League Cup finals, shares similarities with Amorim, which may bring the Portuguese boss into consideration if Pochettino departs this summer.

For Arsenal, the benefits of Slot taking charge at Anfield are likely to come in the player transfer market rather than the managerial one. The potential departure of Slot could lead to a player exodus, with Arsenal previously linked with Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who has scored 47 times in just 85 games for the club.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly lacking a clinical striker in his squad, with the Mexican international, Gimenez, being considered as a potential solution. Additionally, Arteta has reportedly targeted Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, the twin brother of defender Jurrien, who has excelled under Slot and has already been capped by Holland at international level.

Unlike Gimenez, Timber’s deal expires in 2026, increasing the likelihood of him joining his sibling in north London if Arsenal makes a move in the next transfer window.
