Cole Palmer was involved in an altercation with Chelsea assistant manager Jesus Perez after the team’s 2-2 draw with Aston Villa. The dispute arose due to the disallowing of Axel Disasi’s late goal by referee Craig Pawson.

Following the final whistle, several players approached the officials to express their dissatisfaction with the decision, including Palmer, who was caught in a brief squabble with Perez. The England international was angry that he had been pulled away from the situation and exchanged heated words with the assistant manager on the pitch. Mauricio Pochettino’s side found themselves trailing 2-0 at halftime but managed to make a comeback, with Noni Madueke and Conor Gallagher scoring to level the score.

However, Disasi’s goal, which would have secured a win for Chelsea, was disallowed by VAR due to a perceived foul by Benoit Badiashile during the buildup. This decision caused frustration for the Chelsea team, with manager Pochettino expressing disappointment with the referee’s handling of the situation. In a post-match interview with TNT Sports, Pochettino criticized the referee’s decision, stating that it was difficult to accept and had damaged English football.

He highlighted that such incidents, including a previous controversial call in the FA Cup semi-final, contribute to the dissatisfaction with officiating in football.
